A Classical World Language
The Chinese language dates back to 1250 BCE. It is a group of language varieties spoken by the Han Chinese majority. it is spoken by around 1.2 billion people as a first language. The most widely spoken variation is Mandarin Chinese with about 800 million speakers. The Beijing Dialect of Mandarin was adopted in the 1930's and is now the official language of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of China.
